Mr. Gobinda Chandra Pattanaik is the Member Secretary of People’s Forum who is a renowned social activist of the state. He graduated with masters in political science and law which empowered him to learn the existing inequalities in society in a more nuanced way. Mr. Pattanaik has been involved in the development sector for almost three decades now. He aims to improve the standard of living of the vulnerable section of the society since his college days’ way back 1987. He was a student leader in his college days where he was involved in different movements like land rights, environmental protection & rights to livelihood.
As an activist he is influenced by Gandhian philosophy and Dr. S.N. Subarao. He is known for his innovative approaches in the development sector. He felt the pain and immediate needs of the destitute men and women with mental illness and guided the process of setting an institution for them with sustainable livelihood options. He is an adviser to various district administrations such as, Member of District Vigilance Committee, District Postal Committee, National Youth Award Committee and State Mental Health Authority Member. He is one of the youngest social entrepreneurs of the state to have received an award by the Honorable President of India & different institutions for his contribution to the society. He has been conferred with the prestigious “Durgabai Deshmukh” award by Central Social Welfare Board, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India, Khurda Putra, Sabuja Samman, Kumar Samman, Adikabi Sarala dash smruti samman, Vocational Award by Rotary club of Cuttack, Besant Selfless Service Award by Theosophical Order of Service to name a few.
Mr. Sukanta Kumar Samal (Program Head)
Mr. Samal is a senior development professional having more than 16 years of experience in the areas of livelihoods and agricultural production systems, community institutional building and Project Management. He previously worked with various national and international organizations like UNDP, FES, government departments and other research and academic institutions like ICAR and Utkal University. He is adequately exposed to various bilateral projects funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and also British High Commission supported projects. He is an Agricultural Post Graduate from Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar with additional Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from XIM, Bhubaneswar.
